$128.00

Originally painted on silk in 1928 by Yasui Yukihiko (1884-1978), this work depicts En no Kimi, a 7th century Japanese monk who founded the Shugendo faith in Yamagata prefecture. Perhaps this serene fellow will bring a sense of calm to your walls, or invite you to learn more about his mountain-based spiritual path, combining elements of Taoism, Buddhism, and shinto practices. Perhaps he simply reminds you of your kindly grandfather...

Yokoyama Taikan was a leading figure in the early twentieth century Japanese art world, and this print is from a collection of reproductions of original Japanese artworks presented to him for his 60th birthday, in 1928. What an incredible gift!

Printed on shikishi board - a traditional Japanese art material with subtle flecking and a bevelled edge in gold - these works may be framed or propped, and look spectacular in pairs or as a triptych.

materials: vintage shikishi board paper
