vintage japanese monochrome print : birdwatching / autumn village
$58.00
This monochrome reproduction has a different work by Omoda Seiju (1891-1933) on each side - a serene rural vista, and a solitary crested bird.
Omoda Seiju's use of negative space and choice of subject - landscapes, birds, animals, insects- typical of the era, make him an exemplar of the early twentieth-century nihonga (Japanese art) movement.
From a catalogue of monochrome reproductions that was printed in 1934. These works may be framed, and look spectacular in pairs or as a triptych.
