vintage shikishi print : fox

The fox (kitsune) plays many roles in Japanese culture - sneaky shape shifter, a messenger of the gods, protector of crops - so who knows what this fox is up out and about on a moonlight night. Nonetheless he cuts a handsome figure. Framed on your wall he'll look even smarter. 

This print was produced in 1933 as part of the New Year issue of the Kodan Club magazine, featuring traditional Japanese art (nihonga).
