vintage japanese kokeshi

This kokeshi is a lovely example of one the oldest styles of kokeshi, the yamagata style - grooved bands on the body and bold floral motifs are two of their distingusihing features. Unlike most yamagata kokeshi, this kokeshi has a swivel head.

With such a sweet face (with slightly flushed cheeks), this kokeshi is a must for any collector or a fabulous piece for a kokeshi collecting newbie.
